About Watersprings Church

Watersprings beginnings were humble. It started as a home Bible study that Rick led that soon grew too large to continue in a home. Watersprings Church moved many times to bigger facilities and is currently located at 4250 S 25th E Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Today, God continues to work through Watersprings. Our greatest desire is for people to come to know God personally. The simple truth is that there is a God who created each of us and loves us very much. He gave us life and deserves our gratitude and love. Once you encounter the power of Christ in your life, your life will never be the same.

The foundation that Watersprings began building on over 24 years ago is the same foundation it stands on today, and that’s the commitment to seek first the kingdom of God and reach as many people as possible with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

About Pastor Rick

"God, please forgive me for all the wicked stuff I've been doing." So began the spiritual journey of a desperate bull rider from Filer, Idaho. Pastor Rick says he was the least likely person to end up a pastor yet the Lord had a calling on the life of this rodeo cowboy. Living a hard life of promiscuity, substance abuse, violence and crime, Rick learned to live with a survival mentality, fending for himself through the constant moves and brokenness of his family. Partying hard through his teen years, he eventually realized his need for a Savior after failing to fill the deep void in his life. One Sunday afternoon, alone and half-drunk, he got down on his knees and cried out to the Lord for forgiveness. That simple prayer marked the beginning of a radical change in Rick's life.

He entered full-time ministry at the age of 24, and has served as an assistant pastor, youth pastor, and planted two new churches. In 1993, the Lord called Rick Brown to move to Idaho Falls with his wife, Tammy and two children (Caleb and Jessica), to begin a new work that has grown by God’s grace from 4 to 2,500 weekly attendance.

Rick and Tammy stepped out in faith in 1997 to start a Christian school that has grown from 23 to 400 kids. Longing to reach as many as he could for Jesus Christ he started the Revelation Radio Network that is reaching 50 countries who are listening online. After 24 years, he is blessed that the Lord used him as a pastor, teacher and leader at Watersprings Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho which is a Calvary Chapel affiliated Church.

Rick has enjoyed traveling with his wife Tammy to speak at Pastor’s and Leadership Conferences in Turkey, India and Uganda.

About Tammy Brown

Born a breech baby at the beginning of September, Idahoan country gal Tammy Brown made her entrance into the world the same year Pampers created the first disposable diaper and color television sets became popular. Her teachers said she was very shy. Growing up, her best girlfriend made her laugh non-stop. She was involved in rodeo, track, basketball, and volleyball. She gave her life to Jesus during her senior year of high school. Tammy married her high school sweetheart and best friend Pastor Rick Brown in 1986. She is a mom of two adult children and their spouses. Tammy's bright spot in life is her family; she loves them to pieces!

Women who hear Tammy speak often say the same thing: "I love how real she is." Tammy knows what it means to live healed and set free in the care of God. After the trauma of sexual abuse as a child, she lived in silent shame and fear. She later found herself facing the nightmare of date rape at 15 years old. Alone and afraid to trust anyone, she stuffed it down deep into her heart. Slowly turning inward as the years wore on, she became a self-destructive wife and stressed out mom. Ultimately, getting real with God allowed her to move forward and be healed, and she found herself invigorated in her newfound freedom and peace.

Having experienced God’s healing firsthand, Tammy's God-given desire is to challenge and equip other women to do the same. As she shares her story through her Healed and Set Free women's ministry and Bible study, Tammy hopes to make this truth a reality in every woman's life.

Healing…it’s what God does. Invigorating others about His healing power in our lives… it’s what He longs for us to do!

Why “Watersprings”?

We are an affiliate of Calvary Chapel, however, our name was chosen because it speaks about the promise we hold onto as a church body, and the mission we are striving to meet. “He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and dry land into watersprings” (Psalm 107:35). For the dry in spirit, for those searching for more, for those who want to live in the depth of everlasting life – we desire to share Christ’s living water with you.

“Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:13-14).

Pastor Rick's Farewell Letter

Dear Watersprings Family,
It is with a great affection for you all, that I am sharing that the Lord has a new adventure in store for Tammy and me. Through a recent period of prayer, the LORD has made it very clear that He is calling me to let go of my ministry here at Watersprings and serve Him in a new venture, still yet unfolding in the Treasure Valley area. While this is a great opportunity that I am looking forward to, I must confess I am struggling to let go of the Watersprings family that has been the greatest joy of my life for these last 24 years!

Read here.

Most pastors leave churches because there is some relational conflict, internal strife, division, or sin that has gotten the best of them. I am so glad to report that this Watersprings family of believers is more fruitful in love, joy, peace and unity now, than at any other time in our history together! God is working in a more powerful way than ever before in every dimension of the ministry! Not only that, but Tammy and I are more in love than ever!

In some ways, this peace and fruitfulness makes it even more confusing why the Lord would move us on. I have discovered over the years, however, that God’s plans don’t always line up with my human logic. I do believe by faith, however, that God always knows what is best for everyone involved, even though we don’t fully understand it.

Isaiah 55:8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. Over the years I have prayed, “LORD if you ever call me somewhere else, please let it be when the ministry of Watersprings is thriving!” and I now realize this is God’s answer to that prayer.

The only problem is that this is so much more difficult than I ever imagined it would be! If it is any consolation to those who hear this news with a heavy heart, know this, that Tammy and I are leaving our Watersprings family kicking and screaming because it has been such a great joy to serve you, God's precious people! This truly is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Just think, when we get to heaven there will be no more goodbyes, and we'll get to see how God's design all worked out for HIS glory!

I will give my farewell sermon the weekend of October 14th & 15th, and then we will be taking a four month sabbatical for some much needed rest before diving back into ministry in the Boise valley area.

I have sought the most gifted servant of the LORD to take Watersprings to a whole new level of fruitful ministry Ty Orr and his wife Laurie, from Calvary Chapel of Salmon, Idaho. I ask that you please give them the same love, affection and respect that you have shown Tammy and I for all of these years. Then I know it will be a great and successful transition of leadership for the glory of THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS! JESUS OUR GREAT HERO!

In His Strong Name,
Pastor Rick

Acts 13:2 … the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." 3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

Our Statement of Faith
A Statement of Faith is a written declaration of the church's position on matters that pertain to the essentials of historical Christianity.

We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential, and that repentance for sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe it is important to uphold the Scriptural practices of the early church. Therefore, we hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular taking of communion. We do not believe that either of these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Christ.

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as defined in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)
